Somewhere over the rainbow skies are
blue,
And the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true.

Hello Valley Floor Preservationists!
Yesterday Judge Greenacre issued an order granting the Town Limited
Possession of the Valley Floor. After six long years of barbwire fences
and no trespassing signs, we can finally step foot on our cherished
Valley Floor. We anticipate that this Limited Possession Order will
be in place during the pending appeal. For a statement on the appeal
please go to http://www.valleyfloor.org/docs/VF_appeal_notes_5-3-07.pdf.
Per the motion the following uses are allowed: pedestrian access for
walking and hiking, bicycle access on established trails and pathways,
sight-seeing, cross-country skiing, landing zone for hanggliding and
paragliding, hot air-ballooning, watercraft access and passage (via
kayak, canoes, tubes, rafts), and fishing.
Uses NOT allowed include the following: no access into environmentally
sensitive areas like wetlands, Telski mitigation site, or the mine
tailings, no motorized access, no large congregations or festival
events, no parking, no dogs, no camping.
The Town will place signs around the property shortly describing these
uses and alerting people to the environmentally sensitive areas.
We will be placing the motion and order on www.valleyfloor.org in
the legal section.
You can also view a video of the May 9th press conference announcing
the fundraising success on the home page of www.valleyfloor.org
Since it is a powder day in Telluride, David and I are headed out
for a ski on the Valley Floor. Come join us!
And again we want to thank all of those who participated in this unprecedented
community campaign. Telluride is truly an example of dreaming big
and following through!
