A unique opportunity is before us. We have been given
the rare opportunity to define our values as individuals and as a
town. We embrace this challenge. As most of you probably know, the
jury delivered a verdict on Friday, February 16th. The value of the
570-acre tract of the Valley Floor was set at $50 million. At last
we have the value. The bar is set.
Given the result, we have an impressive challenge before us. We believe
the investment, even at this level, will pay huge dividends to the
Telluride region in perpetuity. We are resolved to carry this process
to a positive conclusion for the Town and preserve this critical property
as open space.
The goal for private funding is now $24 million. We currently have
pledges and cash totaling $9.2 million, leaving the goal before us
at approximately $15 million. At this time we believe we have until
March 15th to come up with the funds. The judge will give us a definitive
timeline next week.
WE NEED YOUR DONATIONS RIGHT NOW!
We are aggressively expanding our private outreach. We are spending
our days (and nights) on the phone with those who are able to make
leadership level contributions. Most of these donors have been waiting
for the number. They have also been watching the growing level of
local support and are moved by the passion and sacrifice of this community.
While we ask them to step up to significant levels we need to show
them just how far we are willing to go.

further financially. You can also help by sharing your belief with
others. We can MAKE IT HAPPEN if, we as a community continue to believe
that it is possible.
We are about to define Telluride and it will take all of us.
